The Petrel Remote Head is an AIS-compatible submersible recovery beacon that operates like an AIS Aid to Navigation (AtoN). Designed for easy and convenient short-range tracking and recovery, it enables location to be automatically displayed on the AIS chartplotters of nearby vessels without the need for any additional devices or software.
This remote head version of the Apollo X platform offers versatile installation options, using a flexible cable to join the unit to an external power supply.
The beacon can be easily set up via Bluetooth, and features a low-power sleep mode that activates when underwater. It utilizes a solid-state conductivity sensor to detect when the beacon breaks the surface of the water, providing improved reliability over mechanical solutions.
