Underwater Acoustics International (UAI) selected the ISS360 Imaging Sonar from developer Impact Subsea for integration with the Seamor Chinook ROV.
The ISS360 sonar is one of the most compact imaging sonars available, offering a complete 360° view around the submerged vehicle. Capable of detecting objects up to 90 meters away, the ISS360 Sonar features an innovative inductive coupling of the transducer, ensuring long-term, maintenance-free operation.
Underwater Acoustics International ROV with ISS360 Sonar
Underwater Acoustics International is a prominent provider of underwater services, specializing in the inspection of penstocks, flooded tunnels, and conduits. The company supplies robotic systems equipped with top-tier acoustic imaging technology, enabling predictive maintenance.
Impact Subsea’s distributor in the USA, ECHO81, provided the ISS360 sonar to UAI. ECHO81 is available to discuss technical specifications, facilitate integration and servicing, and offer demonstrations of the ISS360 sonar.
ISS360 sonar applications include ROV and AUV navigation, target identification, diver navigation, port surveillance, motion reference, search and recovery.
ISS360 Sonar Key Features:
- 90M Range: Provides long-distance imaging.
- 6,000 & 4,000M Depth Ratings: Suitable for both shallow and deepwater applications.
- Pitch & Roll (Optional): Delivers pitch and roll measurements with 0.2° accuracy.
- Small Form Factor: The most compact imaging sonar available.
- Broadband Transducer: Ensures superior image quality and range.
- No Slip Rings: Eliminates wear-prone components.
Ryan Wallace, UAI Project Manager, commented, “The ISS360 has been an amazing ROV Navigation tool for us and does not take up any real estate on our sub. The software does not get any easier to operate and the quality construction of the sensor puts it in a class of its own.”
