HydroSurv and WASSP Multibeam, part of Furuno UK, have delivered the REAV-28 Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) featuring advanced sonar technology.

The REAV-28 is believed to be the first fully integrated system tailored for cost-efficient bathymetric mapping in marine construction and dredging.

The uncrewed surface vessel, remotely controlled and highly adaptable, incorporates WASSP’s high-performance multibeam echosounder within EIVA’s NaviSuite Kuda Core software. Designed to provide professional-grade hydrographic capabilities at a fraction of traditional costs, the platform delivers exceptional accuracy and reliability.

WASSP’s innovative Real-time Processing Module (RPM) enhances data acquisition with rapid ping rates, survey-specific tracking, and a 120-degree swath optimized by advanced signal interpretation. Built for affordability and scalability, this solution empowers operators to conduct precise underwater mapping while minimizing capital expenditure.

At the heart of the system, WASSP’s compact DRX transceiver ensures seamless real-time processing with remarkable energy efficiency. Deployed from the REAV-28 USV, this game-changing technology enables Foyle Marine & Dredging to conduct surveys independently, reducing reliance on conventional crewed vessels and adapting to evolving operational needs.

David Hull, Founder & CEO of HydroSurv, said, “We’ve seen growing demand from marine service operators outside of the survey supply chain for a solution that addresses the gap between single-beam echo sounder and high-end multibeam solutions.

“Partnering with WASSP, we’ve been able to put a powerful tool into the hands of the team at Foyle Marine & Dredging that will drastically reduce the costs of repeated resurveys in their construction and dredging projects.ˮ

Rufus Whiteford, Business Development Manager at Furuno UK, added, “The integration of WASSP into HydroSurvʼs REAV-28 is a testament to our commitment to providing cost-effective, high-performance tools that enhance marine survey and dredging operations.

“We’re proud to see this collaboration delivering immediate and tangible benefits to Foyle Marine & Dredging.
