Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has received the L12E from OceanAlpha, an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) with a 400kg payload capacity and endurance of 4.5 hours.

The recipient of the unmanned surface vehicle, dubbed “The Clear Water Bay”, is Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute (CKSRI) at HKUST, a platform dedicated to fostering research, development, and education in robotics.

The USV will support the Institute’s innovative technology research and development efforts, enabling secondary development activities and expanding the horizons of scientific exploration at HKUST.

A delivery ceremony held at the OceanAlpha headquarters saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between Shi Song, General Manager of OceanAlpha, Professor Wang Yang, Vice President of HKUST, and Professor Zhang Fumin, Director of CKSRI.

The inclusion of the Clear Water Bay USV is expected to enriche HKUST’s experimental research resources and provide a practical platform for students and faculty in the field of robotics and related disciplines.
