VideoRay, a pioneer in underwater robotic technology and a subsidiary of BlueHalo, has been awarded a contract worth over $30 million to provide systems engineering and support services for its Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), the Mission Specialist Defender.
The $30,735,784 contract, issued by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific, is expected to enhance the U.S. Navy’s operational capabilities by ensuring the continued performance and advancement of these advanced underwater systems.
Jonathan Moneymaker, CEO of BlueHalo, said, “This follow-on contract highlights the U.S. Navy’s commitment to adapting and customizing our commercial off-the-shelf defense solutions to meet the evolving needs of its expeditionary forces. We are honored to continue our support in delivering cutting-edge, mission-critical ROVs that enhance maritime security, reconnaissance, and response capabilities for the fleet.”
This five-year contract builds upon VideoRay’s existing partnership with the U.S. Navy, following the company’s $92.6 million Maritime Expeditionary Standoff Response (MESR) contract awarded in May 2024.
The award further cements VideoRay’s role as a key provider of unmanned undersea technology for critical missions, including expeditionary operations, mine countermeasures, and maritime security.
Acquired by BlueHalo in 2023, VideoRay continues to set industry benchmarks for compact, high-performance underwater robotic systems. The Mission Specialist Defender stands out for its exceptional maneuverability, payload adaptability, and mission flexibility—ensuring operational success in the most demanding maritime environments.
